David Mundy has just had the research he completed during his Honours degree at Murdoch University published. He evaluated abalone growth in Augusta, south-western Australia on artificial habitats (Abitats) in the Ocean Grown Abalone lease site. The article is freely available on the web site of the journal Asian Fisheries Science https://lnkd.in/gBgUbWC3
It was great to work with David on this and work out how to complete the research during his heavy training commitments for Australia Rules Football to the Fremantle Dockers team.
We appreciated the support, knowledge and contributions of co-authors Anthony Hart, formerly at DPIRD Western Australia and Ryan Admiraal, formerly Murdoch University, now Victoria University - Wellington.
Thanks to Brad Wall, the CEO of the Ocean Grown Abalone, now Rare Foods Australia and his staff, particularly Marks Wall and Mitch Lynn, for their logistical support and discussion of ideas. Thanks to Jake Poad for 888 Abalone in Bremer Bay for his assistance with our tagging and measurement of small juvenile abalone before their transport and release on the Abitats.
Lastly, to David - huge congratulations and thanks for the fun in working on this.
